The Boot Camp for new managers/administrators/assistants is a nuts and bolts session. The second Boot Camp curriculum is different from that offered last year. Topics are: general management, such as working with selectmen, building relationships, community pride and developing a support network; ethics; legal issues; and effective communication.
Those who attended last year’s session will likely find this session to be helpful and informative.
Now that a curriculum has been developed for two different and distinct sessions, the intent is to hold one per year on a rotating basis. Topics that will be offered again next year include: procurement, finance, human resources (including collective bargaining), and a general overview of day-to-day operations.
Boot Camp presenters are seasoned local government managers with years of experience in large and small communities from all over the state.
All MMMA and STAM members are welcome to attend the training. All managers with less than three years of experience are encouraged to attend.
Registration is being limited to MMMA/STAM members or those transitioning into the profession. Other interested officials may register as space permits.
This is a free event, but pre-registration is required.
