MMPA honors Jeff Hull with Skop Award
November 16, 2008Jeffrey Hull, the assistant town administrator in Wilington for the past 21 years, received the Massachusetts Municipal Personnel Association’s 2008 Emil Skop Award before a crowd of 200 local officials at the association’s Annual Labor Relations Seminar on Oct. 24 in Boxborough.
The award recognizes contributions made in the field of municipal human resources management. A former chair of the MMPA for four years, Hull was honored for 25-plus years of public service, dedication to local government, and strong support of the MMPA.
He was commended for his strong, quiet, and collaborative management style, superior leadership, mentoring, and professionalism. Colleagues in the association noted that Hull is always willing and able to answer questions from peers. They also acknowledged the excellent job he did as MMPA chair and credited him with redirecting and revitalizing the association.
Hull has been a management member of the state’s Joint Labor-Management Committee since April 2006. He is also an active member of the Massachusetts Municipal Management Association. Hull currently serves as a member of the Program Development Committee for the MMPA as well as the MMMA.
In 1995, Hull received the Eugene Rooney Award, which recognizes excellence in the field of human resource development and training.
Prior to working in Wilmington, Hull was the administrative assistant to the Board of Selectmen in Ayer. He began his career as an intern in the mayor’s office in North Adams. Hull has an undergraduate degree in business administration from Bryant College and a master’s in public administration from Northeastern University.
Emil Skop was a founding member of the MMPA and served as its first executive secretary. Hull is the 25th person to be honored with the Skop Award since 1986.
