The Massachusetts Coastal Coalition is holding a symposium on the Community Rating System on June 13 in Lynn.

The coalition, which includes stakeholders affected by flood hazards, offers educational and training opportunities, conducts legislative and regulatory advocacy, and provides flood risk information to communities.

The Community Rating System encourages community floodplain management activities that exceed the minimum National Floodplain Insurance Program standards.

Symposium attendees will receive an update on flood-related legislation and learn about the effects of the CRS on insurance premiums and how to manage CRS credits, among other topics.

The Coastal Coalition is sponsoring the symposium along with the office of Congressman Seth Moulton and several CRS and NFIP specialists.

The symposium will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at North Shore Community College in the Community Board Room.
