The town of Boxford seeks an Account Clerk to perform a variety of bookkeeping, cash management, clerical and customer service functions for the Office of the Treasurer/Collector of Taxes.

The job requires constant use of a PC by a person proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications with the ability to attain competency in the use of specialized municipal financial software. Principal duties include addressing taxpayer inquiries at the service counter or on the telephone, payment processing, bank deposit preparation and delivery of funds to the bank; also, distribution of trash stickers and the data entry of bi-weekly payroll during absence of Assistant Treasurer/Collector of Taxes. Successful applicant should have bookkeeping or banking experience and the ability to meet surety bonding requirements. Customer service experience a plus.

The job is a 20 hour per week benefit eligible position under the collective bargaining agreement between the town of Boxford and AFSCME Local 939, Boxford Support Staff. Hours are 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., Monday through Thursday; additional hours may be required to meet seasonal departmental needs. Compensation rate is $23.96/hr. Anticipated start date is late September, 2021.
