Activities Coordinator-Elder Services
The town of Weymouth is currently accepting applications for an Activities Coordinator with the Department of Elder Services. Works under the direction of the Director of Elder Services providing supervision to program instructors, paid vendors, and volunteers. Must be able to work in a fast paced, very busy environment which is often noisy with constant customer service interruptions. Must be able to adapt and change daily routines based upon the needs and wants of the senior population we serve. Evening and weekend work is required several times a year and with advanced notice. Schedules in collaboration with Director, new and exciting activities and educational programing staying up to date with what other senior centers and state of the art facilities provide. Develops activity descriptions by creating clear, realistic expectations and goals for the activities. Monitors regularly scheduled activities performing periodic evaluations for participant satisfaction. Effectively communicates activities with individuals and groups by establishing regular written communications to be used through the use of a monthly newsletter and social media. Works efficiently and cooperatively with the administration and staff by contributing and participating as a team member. Accepts professional obligations and commitments to professional development. Supports all special events programming as needed, sometimes requiring a shift in weekly hours to evenings and weekends. Typical office hours are 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field required; or five years of experience in social services, health or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Specific experience working with seniors strongly desired. The starting salary for this position is $62,207.62/annually.
