The purpose of this position is to perform responsible administrative and executive level secretarial work in assisting the Executive Assistant to the Board of Selectmen to discharge the duties of the Board of Selectmen’s office. A vital segment of this position is the handling of all license applications within the parameters and time constraints mandated by the Massachusetts General Laws and, on liquor licenses, by the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission, including new liquor licenses, annual renewal and revocation or suspension of licenses; all other related work as required and directed.
Essential Job Functions:*Assists the Executive Assistant to the Board of Selectmen in performing administrative/secretarial duties for the office. Handles license applications and renewals within the parameters and time constraints mandated by Massachusetts General Laws and, for liquor licenses, by the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission. Answers a variety of questions and concerns from the public and other town departments. Attends meetings of the Board of Selectmen, as directed or required, recording and maintaining all motions and votes of the Board in accordance with legal requirements. Posts meetings in accordance with the Open Meeting Law. Maintains records of the office and handles requests for information from the public, the press and other departments. Assists with the preparation of the Selectmen’s annual budget and department expenditures. May be required to act as liaison between the Board of Selectmen and department heads, personnel, state agencies, local legislature, etc. Assists with the preparation of the annual reports. Sets up Special Town Meetings. Prepares and maintains records of committee and individual appointments, maintains Town Government Talent Bank. Keeps members of the Board, the General Manager and other proper authorities informed on matters requiring immediate attention. Performs similar or related work as required and directed.
Minimum Requirements:* Bachelor’s degree or four years of post-high school training in business, public administration or related field; and five years of progressively responsible administrative experience; commitment to public service, or any equivalent combination of education and experience*.

This position is offered at the rate of $1,087.85 – $1,335.22 weekly plus excellent benefits.
