Title: Administrative Clerk to the Board of Selectmen

Location: Board of Selectmen/Town Administrator’s Office

Status: Full-time – 35 hours/week

Grade: 8

Salary: Starting at $23.09/hr

The town of Hingham is seeking an Administrative Clerk to the Board of Selectmen to provide administrative and secretarial support to the Board of Selectmen/Town Administrator’s Office.

Duties: Work includes preparing for, attending and taking minutes at Board of Selectmen evening meetings, handling resident inquiries in person and on the phone, researching information, processing bills, helping process licenses, and performing a variety of administrative and clerical functions while handling sensitive information and maintaining a high level of confidentiality.

Requirements: The successful candidate must be able to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality, have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively in person or on the phone with people at all levels of town government as well as the general public. A candidate for this position should have a High School diploma or equivalent and one to three years of comprehensive and detailed office experience or equivalent education and experience. The successful candidate must demonstrate skill in computer programs and applications (Excel, Word, Email, etc.), general office procedures and general bookkeeping procedures. Municipal experience preferred, but not required.
