RE-POSTED: The town of Falmouth is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Assessor. This position is responsible for administrative, supervisory, technical inspection and statistical analysis work. Working under the administrative direction of the Director of Assessing and in accordance with state statues and directives of the DOR, duties include; reviewing recertification-evaluation, reviews reassessment plan, analyzes new values, reviews the classification of real property and a variety of reports and lists including classification tax allocation to the Property Tax Bureau; Reports property tax base growth and all changes in valuation; Receives, investigates and reviews abatement of tax applications and adjust values as necessary according to assessment principles, interests tax laws and regulation affecting property valuation and tax assessment foe the taxpayers; Represents town at ATB hearings in preparation of valuation defense of tax assessment; Assigns and reviews daily work of field appraisers to assure accurate tax assessment according to current market conditions and assessment standards; Views residential and commercial property, performing field measurements and inspections, evaluates land and land changes. Associate’s degree with related course work in business, finance, and property assessment and three years assessing experience for tax purposes. Training and experience in municipal appraisal and assessment practices desired; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough knowledge and understanding of principles, methods, and techniques of real and personal property assessment practices / procedures, construction methods and material, municipal law relating to assessment of property and levying of taxes. Excellent supervisory skills. Wage is $31.62 – $40.02/hr. plus competitive benefits package.
