The City of Everett Assessors office is seeking to fill the full time position of Assistant Assessor. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and have field experience accurately measuring, listing and sketching property improvements for a wide variety of property types. Confirming sales data from relevant parties as well as public sources including MLS and the Registry of Deeds is required. This position also assists the Assessor with a variety of personal property tax, mapping and title research matters as well as Appellate Tax Board cases.
Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills are required. Must be willing and able to help taxpayers understand their assessments and tax bills and also be able to explain what exemptions are offered by the City. Must be comfortable interacting with public and be able to provide complete and accurate information as it relates to the functions of the assessor’s office and Massachusetts General Law.
Familiarity with CAMA systems, Windows and Microsoft Office programs is preferred as well as the ability to learn the municipal billing program. Must possess a valid driver’s license (mileage is reimbursed). Successfully completed appraisal or assessing course work desirable.
