The town of Holliston is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Assistant Assessor. The Assistant Assessor provides appraisal of real estate and personal properties to determine fair value and to assess taxes, building permits and abatements.

Responsible for inspecting real estate and personal properties to appraise value considering such factors as current market value, location of property, building quality and condition, etc. Reviews appraisals with Principal Assessor. Obtains property measurements and related data to update records. Reviews and evaluates forms of list data to assist in the taxation of personal property. Tracks building permits from application to completion. Processes applications for abatements. Supervises office staff as necessary.

Requires high school diploma and five years of job related experience or a combination of education and experience. Requires MAA certification upon hire or within three years of employment. Also requires valid Class D motor vehicle license.

This is a full-time, benefit eligible position, 35 hours per week, requiring some flexibility in work hours to allow for appointments outside the normal workday of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and occasionally Saturday. Some remote work may be considered.

The position is Grade 600 on the town’s wage chart, and the starting salary range is $57,422-$58,738 annually. The full range is $53,640-$70,467. This position may be considered part of a succession plan for the right candidate.
