The city of Watertown seeks a talented individual to join our Department of Public Works (DPW) as the Assistant City Engineer.

Working under the general direction of the Superintendent of Public Works and City Engineer, the position assists in conducting studies of engineering projects and help prepare plans for public improvements such as streets and sidewalks; review plans, maps, specifications, cost estimates and other work; performs field inspections and provides technical assistance to other divisions and consultants as needed.

Minimum qualifications: four-year degree in civil engineering or related field and seven to 10 years of experience in public works construction and maintenance. Must possess an engineer in training (EIT) certificate or be a registered professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Salary and benefits: this is a union position. The hiring range is $89,761 to $100,680 DOQ, plus an excellent benefit package which includes pension, deferred compensation, health insurance 80% city-paid premium, paid vacation, sick, personal, and holidays; flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and more.
