The City of Brockton seeks a labor and employment law attorney to serve as a part-time Assistant City Solicitor (a minimum commitment of twenty-one (21) hours, 3 (three) days is required). This position reports to the City Solicitor and assists in representing the City in all legal proceedings and serving as corporate counsel to the Mayor, department heads, and other city officials.  Duties will include participating in labor contract negotiations, representing the city in employment matters and litigation, resolving union grievances, rendering legal opinions, and advising municipal officers, departments, commissions and boards. Applicants must have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, admission to the Massachusetts Bar, and timely, relevant experience in collective bargaining and labor law. Salary $53,482.00 – $60,489.00. City of Brockton residency required or shall, within one (1) year of employment establish residency within the City.
