The city of Lowell is seeking qualified, experienced, and energetic candidates for the position of Assistant City Solicitor/ Tax Title/ Land Use Attorney in the Law Department. This position reports to the City Solicitor and supervisors the taking of title to real property for non-payment of delinquent real estate taxes. Responsible for title exams, real estate closings and other land use dealings. Duties include overseeing the publication of tax delinquents after a demand by the Treasurer; Review then records Instruments of Tax Taking at the Middlesex North Registry of Deeds; Petitions the Land Court to foreclose the right of redemption; Monitors the Docket of City of Lowell Tax Lien Cases at the Massachusetts Land Court; Represents the city of Lowell at hearing at the Land Court. Requirements: Member of Massachusetts Bar. Complete knowledge of Mass. Gen. Laws. Ch. 60 §§35-98. Three to five years demonstrated work experience as an attorney examining titles. Salary range is $70,949.84 (min) to $83,278.00 (max) annually.
