The town of Littleton is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time 19 hours/week, Assistant Conservation Agent in the Conservation Department. Responsibilities include assisting the Conservation Agent in administering the MA Wetlands Protection Act, Littleton Wetlands Protection Bylaw and managing the Town’s Conservation Lands. Tasks would include receiving applications, preparing permits, conducting site walks and coordinating with the public and other town departments. Knowledge of wetlands science and hydrology highly preferred. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a team environment, have excellent communication skills and be able to work independently. Occasional night meetings or evening /weekend site walks may be required. There will be opportunity for the applicant to attend training/educational seminars as well as to pursue special projects relative to the position.

Successful candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, land management or related field; two years’ experience in an associated field. Experience in implementing, administering and enforcing the Wetlands Protection Act is highly desirable, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. This position will be subject to a thorough background check including drug and alcohol testing. Completion of MACC Fundamentals classes would be a plus.
Effective July 1, the starting pay rate is $27.38 – $28.77/hour, commensurate with experience. This is a nonexempt position governed by the Personnel By-Law.
