ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS

EXEMPT/MANAGEMENT/NON-UNION

$125,000. – $135,000 DOQ/E

The town of Rockport seeks a dynamic individual to join their team as the Assistant Director of Public Works. The Assistant Director of DPW is responsible for assisting the DPW Director in the administrative and operational functions of a major department of the town including the management of the Operations Division, Engineering Division and Public Works Capital Projects. Responsibilities include the maintenance of roadway infrastructure, sidewalks, water and sewer systems, drainage systems and grounds up-keep in accordance with all applicable Massachusetts General Laws, local bylaws, Rules and Regulations. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree with specialization in civil engineering or a related field; seven to 10 years of successful, responsible experience in public works/utilities construction, surveying, GIS or CAD experience preferred, with a minimum of one to three years successful experience in a supervisory capacity preferably in a full-service, municipal public works department; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
