Town of Ashburnham is seeking qualified applicants to for a full-time Assistant DPW Superintendent.
The Assistant DPW Superintendent is a management position that requires supervisory and technical work of a responsible nature. The Assistant Superintendent is expected to work with the DPW Superintendent and all DPW personnel in the operation and control of a water distribution and wastewater collection system, highway functions, cemetery and parks functions and all other DPW activities.
Assist the DPW Superintendent in planning, assigning and supervising the work of all employees engaged in a variety of public works construction and maintenance. Computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office, data base knowledge, familiarity with GIS, and familiarity with meter reading and billing systems. Budgetary development skills. Planning skills.
Successful candidate will have: (1) a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related discipline is highly preferred; (2) a minimum of five years related construction and engineering experience, including at least two years in a management/supervisory capacity; or (4) any equivalent combination of education and experience.
In addition : (1) possess a valid Massachusetts Class B Commercial Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain within six months of employment; (2) possess a Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer’s License, or the ability to obtain within one year of employment; (3) pass a physical examination as a condition of employment; (4) participate in the town’s Drug and Alcohol testing program; and (5) successfully pass a CORI background check.
Benefited, non-union, 40 hour exempt position. Salary will be dependent on current qualifications and licensures, a starting range at or about $73,000.
