Our members are the local governments of Massachusetts and their elected and appointed leadership.
Under the general supervision of the Superintendent of Parks, the Assistant Parks Superintendent will provide management and technical expertise to significant components of the park maintenance program, particularly around the maintenance of landscape plantings, playground equipment, athletic fields, irrigation systems and other water features. College degree in horticulture, agronomy, and/or related field required. Certifications related to landscaping, turf, management, irrigation, and/or related field preferred. Five years of progressively responsible experience in landscape/horticultural operations, with at least two years of administrative/supervisory experience. Significant knowledge of turfgrass, ornamental shrubs/grasses, and flowers, particularly those common to the northeastern U.S. Some knowledge of trees common to the region.
Significant understanding of and experience with landscape maintenance and construction contract management.
Comprehensive knowledge of and practical experience maintaining all aspects of irrigation and other park water systems, including computerized controls, electrical systems, and plumbing. $84,741 – $95,278 annually plus excellent benefits.
