The town of Westford seeks applicants for a full-time, Assistant Planner. This benefitted exempt position reports to the Director of Land Use Management (DLUM) and works under the general direction of the Town Planner and Conservation Resource Planner. This position provides administrative and technical support to the Conservation Commission, Planning Board and Board of Appeals, conducts site visits, follows up on conditions of approval, and occasionally attends evening meetings. Duties include drafting agendas, legal notices, forms, technical memoranda and decisions, and coordinating reviews of plans and application materials, and other tasks as may be assigned the DLUM, Conservation Resource Planner and Town Planner. A bachelor’s degree in planning, environmental or a related field and two years of professional permitting experience with planning, zoning and/or conservation is required. Proficiency with personal computers; experience using the entire Microsoft Office Suite; some experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is desirable. Additionally, exceptional organizational, time management, customer service, communication skills are required. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license. The starting salary range is mid $60k’s per year.
