The city of Lebanon, NH has an opening for a full-time Assistant Public Works Director. Hours are Mon.-Fri with work outside of the normal business hours (City Council and emergency situations). Weekly salary range $1,576.13 – $2,127.78 (DOE) enhanced with a full benefits package.

Position Overview: This fast-paced multifaceted position oversees, directs, manages and supervises multiple projects/priorities, several divisions and employees. This position is responsible for assisting the Director, managing supervisory functions, managing long and short-term goals, and supervising duties pertaining to highway/grounds, cemeteries, fleet maintenance, solid-waste/recycling, facilities and energy and municipal buildings. This position provides direction to assigned divisions, project oversight, staff planning, supervision to supervisory staff and contracted vendors, and coordinating/organizing the Public Works City projects, project schedules/deadlines, compliance oversight and workmanship quality and safety. Supports the Director and department initiatives and mission.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering/related field and seven to 10 years’ in public works and construction, maintenance and operations, with five years of complex public works supervisory experience. Strong knowledge of current Public Works management and a strong understanding of state and federal laws. Preference will be afforded to those who have prior municipal/Public Works management experience.
