The town of West Newbury seeks qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Town Clerk. This is a 32-40 hour per week, benefits-eligible, hourly position that requires attendance at some evening meetings. The hourly rate is budgeted at $25.55 to $31.94, depending on qualifications.
The Assistant Town Clerk supports the Town Clerk in the daily operations of the Town Clerk’s Office. Responsibilities include maintaining official municipal records, administering elections, issuing licenses and official documents, providing information to residents and town departments; and performs all statutory duties of the Town Clerk in their absence. The position also provides some dedicated administrative support to the Town Manager’s Office, including preparing Select Board meeting minutes.
Qualifications include a high school diploma, or equivalent, and three years of related administrative or municipal experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience. Candidates must demonstrate strong writing, customer service, and computer skills, and be eligible for bonding.
