Who is a member?
Our members are the local governments of Massachusetts and their elected and appointed leadership.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Assists the Treasurer/Collector with tax/bill collections and administrative tasks. Receives, records, balances, reconciles receipts, and answers customer inquiries; provides guidance and research and responds to questions from taxpayers; and inquires. Posts payments, exemptions, abatements to accounts, issues municipal lien certificates, prepares and issues refunds. Verifies accuracy of tax bills. Tracks delinquent bills and mails payment demand notices. Monitors payment plans for past due real estate accounts. Tracks betterments and issues pay off amounts.
MIN. QUALIFICATIONS: High school degree plus two year degree or certificate in accounting or finance or other related field, bachelor’s degree preferred; and three to five years of experience in municipal accounting and customer service or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience are required. Certification as Asst. Collector by the Massachusetts Collector and Treasurer Association highly preferred and encouraged. Must be able to be Surety Bonded.
HOURS: Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., 1 hour of unpaid lunch

SALARY: Grade 7, Step 1 $55,614, to Step 12 $72,934 DOQ, 35 hours week, non-union, full benefits, opportunity for advancement
