The town of Plympton is seeking a qualified individual to serve as the town’s Assistant Treasurer/Collector. The Assistant Treasurer/Collector will be responsible for assisting with maintaining accurate and complete transaction records for all bank accounts; preparing and depositing departmental turnovers; preparing and verifying payroll and expense warrants for the Treasurer/Collector’s review; matching invoices with checks and assisting with mailings; assisting with the preparation of monthly reports of Treasurer’s receipts to the Town Accountant; coordinating benefits administration, including health and life insurance plans, retirement and deferred compensation for all employees and retirees; preparing and mailing end of year W-2s, 1099s and W-4s for municipal and school employees and vendors; and any other projects or duties as may be assigned by the Treasurer/Collector.

This position is eligible for benefits and subject to the terms outlined in the town’s Wage & Personnel bylaw. Hourly rate range: $20.87 – $25.03, depending upon qualifications and experience. The work schedule is Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Monday evenings from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Qualifications: A high school diploma is required. Associate’s degree or beyond is preferred, with coursework in business, accounting or a related field and a minimum of three years of experience related to bookkeeping or accounting, preferably in a municipal government setting; or an equivalent combination of training, relevant work experience and education will all be considered. As the position may serve as the Treasurer/Collector in his/her absence, candidates must be eligible for fidelity bonding. The successful candidate shall consent to a CORI.
