Budget Director

Job Description

The town of Acton is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and strategic financial leader to serve as its next Budget Director. This full-time position leads the development, administration, and oversight of the Town’s operating and capital budgets and provides financial analysis and long-range planning to support fiscal sustainability.

Working closely with the Town Manager, Finance department, and department heads, the Budget Director coordinates the annual budget process, develops financial forecasts, analyzes revenue and expenditure trends, monitors departmental and enterprise fund budgets, and recommends fiscal policies, resource allocation strategies, and cost-saving opportunities. The position also prepares reports and presentations for Town boards and committees, supports revenue estimation and the tax rate recap process, produces the Popular Annual Financial Report, supervises staff as assigned, and may serve as Acting Finance Director.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, public administration, economics, or a related field and four years of progressively responsible municipal financial experience. A master’s degree, municipal budgeting experience, MUNIS knowledge, and strong presentation and financial modeling skills are preferred.

Salary: $94k–$106k annually.
