Brewster seeks qualified candidates for Building Commissioner. Position responsible for overall management of the Building Department, including administrative & inspectional staff. Duties include; planning, organizing and supervision of inspection work to ensure compliance with safety, structural, light, ventilation and other pertinent local bylaws and state regulations; reviews plans for zoning compliance and serves as enforcement officer for zoning, sign regulations, and the Old Kings’ Highway Historic District Act; develop and manage the department’s annual operating budget. Successful candidate is expected to work collaboratively with all constituents, including contractors and residents, department heads, staff, elected and appointed officials and must be a consensus-builder. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field and/or master craftsman level of building construction trade knowledge, with minimum seven years prior work experience preferable in construction trades, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. MA Building Commissioner Certification required, (or Local Inspector with ability to attain certification within 18 months of hire).
