The city of Newburyport, a waterfront community, seeks to fill a critical role to provide financial functions, business transactions and administrative functions for all DPS Divisions – Water, Sewer and Highway – a combined budget of 11.5 million. Key duties include planning, directing and implementing financial accounting and reporting of department activities; financial management and cost analysis; implementing and maintaining sound internal controls; reconciling records and coordinating with internal/external auditors. Oversees the day-to-day operations, including supervision of the business office personnel for functions such as billing, collections and liens. Monitors, benchmarks, forecasts and reports on department performance; manages and administers the city’s wireless phone accounts including purchasing, tracking usage and cost accounting. Reports directly to the DPS Director. Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related discipline plus minimum five years’ related municipal and/or private management and supervisory experience. Annual salary range $66,000 to $74,200. This position is benefit eligible. EEO/AA Employer
