Business Manager – Ipswich Utilities

The town of Ipswich is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time, exempt Business Manager position within the Ipswich Utilities department. The department includes electric, water, and wastewater utilities serving approximately 7,000 electric, 5,000 water, and 3,000 wastewater customers, supported by a shared Business Office.

The Business Manager oversees the department’s core business and customer service functions, including billing, collections, customer service, accounts payable, and sustainability initiatives. This role provides direct supervision of clerical staff and exempt specialists and works closely with consultants, vendors, and professional partners.

The position also maintains oversight of critical internal technology systems such as SCADA, asset management platforms, incident response systems, communication networks, security systems, and advanced metering infrastructure.

As a member of the Utilities management team, the Business Manager plays an active role in planning and executing projects that support long-term operational effectiveness, resiliency, accessibility, and sustainability.

Salary: $90,000 – $120,000
