The town of Stow is seeking applicants for the position of Chief of Police (M.G.L. c. 41, §97). This full-time, 40 hour, exempt position is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, controlling and staffing all activities of the Department. The employee is also responsible for the continued and efficient operation, for the enforcement of rules and regulations within the department, for the completion and forwarding of such reports as may be required by proper authority, and for Department relations with citizens, the local government and other town agencies. Performs other related work as required. The Chief is considered a working Chief and may be expected to work regular duties of a police officer, as well as handle the administrative work.
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field required; master’s degree desired; and seven years of progressively responsible police management experience; Massachusetts experience highly desired; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
