Come join our dynamic team! The city of Newton is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Chief Preservation Planner. The purpose of this senior level management position is to provide technical expertise and policy guidance on all historic preservation matters while administering Newton’s preservation program including staffing historical commissions; performing comprehensive preservation planning and preservation project planning; managing and overseeing preservation program; conducting proposal, needs assessment and eligibility reviews; preparing studies and reports; tracking preservation budget; liaison to constituent groups; and design work on historically significant structures; and all other related work as required and directed. This is a full-time, exempt position, hiring salary range: $72,058 – $74,220 annually plus excellent benefits and the opportunity to be a part of our team of dedicated public servants.
