The city of Fitchburg is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Chief Treatment Plant Operator in the Division of Water Supply, within the Department of Public Works. The Chief Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for the supervision and monitoring of the daily operation and maintenance of the water treatment facilities, pump stations and water storage tanks to ensure proper treatment and storage of drinking water and compliance with state and federal Drinking Water Regulations.
The ideal candidate for this highly responsible position will have a MA Grade 4T Drinking Water Operator Certification, as well as a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in chemistry, biology, environmental science/engineering OR a high school diploma/GED with 10 years’ experience in water treatment plant operations, maintenance and construction; in addition to five years in a supervisory role. The incumbent will possess an excellent working knowledge and understanding of all state and federal Drinking Water Regulations, in addition to the ability to effectively supervise and motivate team members.
