The Fiske Public Library in the town of Wrentham is seeking qualified applicants for the part-time position of Children’s Librarian, reporting to the Library Director. The Children’s Librarian is responsible for program development and implementation of the children’s and young adult sections; providing library services, developing programs and purchasing materials.

Duties include but are not limited to: Responsible for program development and presentation and management of the children’s and young adults’ collections’ responsible for public relations and purchasing of material. Develops long-range goals for the children’s and young adults’ sections; makes recommendations for expansion of programs and services; establishes policies for selecting, processing and cataloging children’s and young adults’ materials. Serve as liaison with schools and other organizations; develops cooperative programs; participates in the development of library policies and procedures. Manage Fiske Library Social Media updates.  Initiates grant proposal; initiates special programs and displays; prepares monthly newsletters; solicits donations for summer reading club program. Assists with administrative and bookkeeping duties; participates in the budget process. Attends meetings and workshops and maintains current knowledge of literature and children’s services. All other related work, as required.

Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred; three years of library experience related to children’s services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong customer service and organizational skills. Highly proficient in technology. Ability to successfully pass town of Wrentham background check and pre-employment physical.

Schedule: 21 hours a week (includes one evening) and every third Saturday.

Salary:  Part-time, benefit eligible union position. Hourly rate $24.55 – $29.75.
