The City of Lowell is seeking qualified, experienced candidates for the position of Civil Engineer, Grade 4 in the DPW, Engineering Division. This position reports to the Department Head and Chief Engineer and under direct supervision of a civil engineer or employee of higher grade who provides guidance on procedure and reviews performance, applicant prepares and/or reviews plans for engineering projects such as intersection upgrades and repaving projects. Determines feasibility of proposed construction through on-site inspection, discussions, and review of available engineering data. Minimum Requirements: Bachelors Degree or higher with major in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology or closely related field, plus two years of professional experience in CE, or in substitution, minimum of an AS Degree in CE with four years of CE work, including engineering disciplines such as construction, survey, design, sanitary, drafting, highway, calculating and computer operation. Driver’s license required with good driving history; MA Registered. Professional Land Surveyor preferred. EIT Desirable. Salary range: $36.7535 (min) to $41.3460 (max) per hour; 35hrs/week.
