Job Description

Brookline DPW’s Engineering and Transportation Division seeks a Civil Engineer IV to support municipal infrastructure planning, design review, construction oversight, and surveying for the Town’s public right‑of‑way, utilities, parks, and facilities. The role manages engineering design and construction activities, prepares contract drawings and specifications, conducts field investigations, oversees water, sewer, and drain projects, and ensures adherence to Town standards. Responsibilities include supervising construction projects, developing cost estimates and RFPs, performing land surveying and construction layout, assessing sewer and drain defects, coordinating with staff, contractors, and the public, and preparing reports and presentations.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field and at least five years of design development and contract management experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Required credentials include E.I.T. or Registered Land Surveyor status, eligibility for the professional engineering exam, and a valid Class D driver’s license.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical proficiency in municipal engineering, effective communication skills, problem‑solving ability, and experience with utility systems, surveying, construction oversight, and contract administration.

Starting pay range: $95,193–$101,020 with comprehensive benefits.
