The town of Stoneham seeks qualified candidates for the full time position of full-time Public Safety Civilian Dispatcher. The Dispatcher has high public visibility and contact, both on the phone and assisting walk ins. Situations can be emergency in nature and require the individual to possess the ability to think and act clearly and calmly.

Civilian Public Dispatchers receive and process emergency and non-emergency signals and calls for service. Dispatching Police, Fire and EMS as well as other emergency units and personnel as needed.

Monitoring and operating emergency signaling, radio, computer, telephone, alarm and other specialized equipment in support of public safety communications and dispatch functions.

Previous experience is preferred, willingness to train individuals with following abilities:

  • Ability to rapidly and accurately assess and process emergency and non-emergency requests for assistance in a composed manner.
  • Familiarity with computers to process records and information via interdepartmental computers and state-wide computer systems.
  • Ability to maintain accurate written records, plan, organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to work independently and as well as take direction
