Our members are the local governments of Massachusetts and their elected and appointed leadership.
This full-time position is responsible for enforcing compliance with all ordinances and codes under jurisdiction of the Code Enforcement Department. Duties include inspecting sites, buildings and premises as needed or in response to complaints, re-inspecting dwellings and premises to determine whether or not compliance has been effected and coordinating enforcement action with other city departments and agencies. Incumbent will prepare violation notices pursuant to applicable laws, and may be required to work flexible hours to meet operational needs. This position is grant funded and may be subject to a reduction in hours depending upon grant status. Hours are Mon-Fri 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. UAW Clerical and Technical affiliation.
Minimum Entrance Requirements
Minimum of three years relevant work experience and knowledge of state and municipal criminal or civil law, ordinances and codes pertaining to building, housing, and zoning. Must possess an associate’s degree in paralegal, criminal justice or construction and have excellent communication skills. A combination of equivalent education and experience will be considered. Bilingual/bicultural skills preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for business travel use.
