The town seeks a professional, experienced Director of Community Development. Under the direction of a Board of Selectmen and Town Administrator, the Director oversees the management of the Community Development Department, including, but not limited to the areas of: community planning, code enforcement, building inspection, as well as managing department staff. The position also provides technical and professional support to the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Adjustment, Conservation Commission and the general public.

Candidates must have knowledge of the following in a municipal setting: engineering practices and principles; construction practices and principles; interpreting codes and regulations, report writing; preparation and experience with stormwater. Project planning and team-orientation are preferred. A strong citizen service attitude is essential.

The ideal candidate will have strong budget and management skills, a team-oriented leadership style and demonstrated ability to meet Community Development challenges.

A master’s degree in public administration, business management, engineering, planning, or closely related field strongly preferred; five to eight years of experience in municipal management, project planning & supervision and general administration or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

Candidate must exercise a high degree of independent, professional judgment and decision making in determining courses of action based on state law, local ordinances, and best practices. Possession of a Professional Engineer’s license in the State of NH or AICP preferred.

Salary range: $82,280.70 – $99,995.70 annually. The town offers a competitive benefits package.
