The town of Rochester seeks full-time Conservation Agent to provide technical support in the administration and enforcement of the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and Rochester Wetlands Bylaw. Agent serves as principal staff and advisor to the Conservation Commission and manages conservation lands and participates in town-wide natural resource planning efforts. Work is professional and technical, developing strategies to provide for the town’s natural resources and open space needs, and environmental permitting; the employee must work with tact and discretion when working in a collaborative and highly public-process work environment.
Qualifications: Should have working knowledge of botany, soils, hydrology; ability to read, understand and interpret technical specifications and plans; ability to organize time and work independently; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; and ability to respond with tact and courtesy when dealing with the public. Bachelor’s degree and three to five years’ experience in conservation and wetland science; or equivalent education and experience. This is a contract position with starting salary $55,000 – $65,000 per year commensurate with experience.
