Worcester, MA, an innovative city with a population 180,000+, is currently seeking a seasoned IT professional to join the leadership team within the Technical Services Department. The Department provides a wide-range of centralized technology services to a 1,700+ user community including: networks and system management, financial production processing, application development and support, GIS, office automation, public safety support, desktop and mobile device support, document imaging, citywide video surveillance, website development/support, Internet services, data analytics/visualization, security and cybersecurity awareness.
The Deputy Director of Technical Services will assist the Chief Information Officer (CIO) with managing the daily technical, operational and administrative functions; including but not limited to development of policies/procedures to ensure protection of city’s IT assets/data/security/privacy; project management and oversight of department’s strategic objectives; development/ongoing management of operating and capital budgets; as well as collaborating with the CIO in the technology vision and planning process, regularly evaluating new technologies.
The Deputy Director will help provide an effective and secure technology infrastructure and deliver innovative, high-quality information technology in support of the City of Worcester’s mission-critical needs. The Department provides a wide-range of centralized technology services to a 1,700+ user community. The qualified candidate will have an overall knowledge of IT operations; experience managing technical support organization; excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; the ability to communicate with user community about concepts, ideas, and requirements; strong understanding of IT systems, infrastructure, security, and emerging technologies; ability to handle multiple projects and re-prioritizations in a fast-paced technical environment; and strong planning and organizational skills. This position requires reliable transportation to travel to other locations as needed.
SALARY RANGE: $75,218.54 – $116,237.16 annually, full-time
