Come join our dynamic team! The city of Newton is seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Deputy Treasurer/Collector. The purpose of this position is to maintain bank accounts and issues payroll checks to operating departments, managing the preparation and filing of federal and state payroll tax as well as other mandated payroll related filings. Assist the Treasurer/Collector with data collection and analysis related to issuance of municipal bonds. Maintain short-term cash in the city’s bank accounts as well as ledgers of account balances. Manage the preparation and disbursement of the city’s payments for purchases and services, including but not limited to bank funding, bank file transmittal and bank ledger updates. Communicate daily with various banks verifying balances, transfers, payments, stop payments, inquiries and requests. Maintain the monthly billing of retiree/employee cash benefit payments, updating the data as required. Balance monthly bank statements of the Newton Retirement System, following up on reconciling issues when needed. Assist with the overall management of the office, including daily operations, customer service, employee scheduling. Perform other related job duties as required. This is a full-time, exempt position, hiring salary range: $101,328 – $110,765 annually plus yearly step increases, excellent benefits, and the opportunity to be a part of our team of dedicated public servants.
