The town of Hamilton is seeking candidates for the position of Director of Assessing. The successful candidate will perform a range of municipal finance functions, including but not limited to: valuation and assessment of real and personal property, perform field measurements and inspections, review applications for abatements and exemptions, provide information to property owners, maintain state mandated certification and revaluation standards, prepare tax recapitulation report for annual certification of tax rates, calculate new growth, negotiate settlements of outstanding tax appeals. Candidate should also possess the management and interpersonal skills to effectively lead department personnel. The Director of Assessing also attends the Board of Assessor’s meetings and assists in planning, developing, and maintaining appropriate systems.

Qualifications include: bachelor’s degree in related field required; five to seven years of experience in assessment administration, real estate appraisal, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Munis, Vision C.A.M.A. system and Massachusetts Accredited Assessor designation a plus. This position is open due to a retirement and will have an anticipated starting date of July 1, 2019. Hiring salary range is $70,668 – $74,977 per year.
