The town of Hingham is seeking a Director of Elder Services to perform administrative, supervisory, and professional work providing services and programs to elders in the community. Work includes assessing the needs of seniors; developing and implementing programs and activities designed to meet those needs; developing and administering department budget, policies and procedures; supervising staff and volunteers; and directing and coordinating the activities of the Senior Center. A candidate for this position must have a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in human services or related field, and five to seven years of experience working directly with elders, with two years of supervisory experience or equivalent education and experience, as well as the ability to become certified by the Massachusetts Councils on Aging (MCOA), as a Council on Aging Director within the specific timeline of certification guidelines, and have a valid driver’s license. In addition, the candidate should possess the following skills and competencies: budget planning and program planning; time management; grant writing procedures and administration; knowledge of traits and characteristics and the needs of the senior population; computer programs and applications; verbal and written communication, customer service; organization; and possess the ability to respond appropriately and professionally to many personalities and situations. Criminal records investigation (CORI qualified) and a valid driver’s license. Salary range: $76,465 – $96,350.
