The town of Brookline, a culturally diverse community of 60,000 surrounded on three sides by Boston, is accepting applications for the Director of Engineering & Transportation. Under the general direction of the Commissioner of Public Works and Town Administrator this position performs a high level of administrative, supervisory and professional civil engineering work relating to the design, construction, and maintenance of town engineering projects, public works construction, and surveying and mapping efforts.
Responsible for carrying out the transportation program as defined by the Transportation Board. Oversees operation of transportation system, including traffic signal locations, public transportation (MBTA), and taxi cabs. Administers and implements work related to town’s traffic rules and regulations. Conducts long-range planning of improvements, securing funds, grants, and approvals. Has direct and indirect supervisory responsibilities.
Bachelor of science degree in civil engineering ; 10 years full-time professional technical experience in civil engineering as a licensed engineer, including traffic engineering work; at least five years of supervisory and budgetary experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensed as a professional engineer in the state of Massachusetts required. Member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers. Starting annualized salary of $114k and comprehensive benefits package.
