The town of Swampscott has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Human Resources professional. The Director of Human Resources is responsible to cultivate the town’s most important assets – our people. The Director of Human Resources is expected to be a partner to the Town Administrator, Superintendent of Schools, and senior management team. The town’s goal is to have an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes employee empowerment, quality work, high productivity, and personal goal attainment for our excellent workforce. This leader will be the day-to-day partner to the leaders of the town and will ensure HR operational excellence. The Director provides management and oversight of Employment, Compensation, Professional Development, Succession Planning, Health Benefits and Workers Compensation Programs. Specifically, the successful candidate will provide leadership and expertise in attracting, developing and sustaining a diverse workforce committed to quality public service; the selected individual will be responsible for implementing HR policies, procedures and systems in support of the strategic objectives as established by the Town Administrator & Superintendent.
The Director will be expected to facilitate comprehensive and equitable compensation, benefits, policies, programs, and services to meet town wide and department-specific operational needs. This includes, but is not limited to, employee recruitment and selection; benefits administration; employee development and retention; employee and labor relations; diversity and inclusion; and efficient human resources administration. The position works alongside the both the Superintendent and Town Administrator to give insight on human resources processes surrounding implementation, and assessment of the Town’s initiatives to promote equity and inclusion within the town and school workforce.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration or a closely related field; (master’s degree, SPHR or PHR preferred) knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Salary for this position is negotiable and dependent upon experience, range is $100,000 – $120,000. The town of Swampscott offers a comprehensive and generous benefits package.
