This position is intended to strengthen the connection between City Hall and the community. It places multicultural affairs and community engagement within the Mayor’s Office so that resident concerns, community partnerships, and accessibility issues can be addressed with stronger coordination, visibility, and follow-through.

The Director will work closely with Human Resources and the Equity and Access Officer on issues that connect community experience with internal city systems. This may include language access, staff training, accessibility, resident-facing service standards, and efforts to make city processes clearer and easier to use.

The Director’s primary focus is external community engagement and multicultural affairs. Human Resources will remain the lead department for internal workforce policies, employee relations, recruitment systems, compliance, and related personnel matters.
