The town of Ayer seeks a highly motivated leader to manage the administration, maintenance, and recreation programs of the town of Ayer’s parks, waterfront/beach, and all recreational facilities in the town of Ayer. The Director reports to a five-member elected Parks Commission for policy and programs direction and administratively to the Town Manager. The Director is responsible for the hiring and management of several part-time, seasonal lifeguards, park attendants, and one part-time administrative assistant. The Director creates and manages various sports and recreation programs for the town of Ayer; oversees the overall maintenance needs of the Park Department properties, with specific responsibilities for the town’s main park complex (Pirone Park) and the Sandy Pond beachfront. Minimum qualifications are a bachelor’s degree in a related recreational field, masters’ degree desirable; plus at least three years of experience in the field of parks and recreation or any combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid drivers license; pass a CORI; CPR certified and certification by the National Recreation and Park Association and Massachusetts Recreation and Park Association desirable.

Full-time, salaried position with weekends and evenings requirements. Salary range: $67,275 to $70,699, DOQ. Excellent municipal benefits package, including health benefits.
