Due to retirement, the town of West Bridgewater is seeking qualified applicants for the position of the Director of Public Works. The DPW Director has been with the town for 32 years, the last eight years as the DPW Director.

The DPW Director manages and oversees the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the town’s public infrastructure, including the surface and subsurface storm water collection system, the department’s public facilities, roadways, sidewalks, transportation, bridge systems, town parks, and all town-owned open space. This position has direct responsibility for the management, operation and supervision of the functions of the Department of Public Works. The Director is subject to recall to duty at any time in response to emergency conditions.

Education and experience: bachelor’s degree in civil engineering preferred, but not required. Minimum of seven to 10 years of responsible administrative and supervisory experience in the field of public works, including management of personnel, construction and roadway design, management of public shade and ornamental trees and experience running snow and ice operations.

Certificates and licenses: minimum Class D, preferred Massachusetts commercial driver’s license. OSHA 10-hour construction and OSHA 30-hour construction safety must be obtained within one year.
