The town of Wayland seeks qualified applicants for the position of Dispatcher – Joint Communications Center. Responsible for dispatching safety, service, and other appropriate personnel to calls. Maintains constant and diligent monitoring of the radio system and coordinates back-up support activities. Receives and records telephone calls and requests for service or information. Maintains active computer entries regarding incidents, including all service calls. Keeps supervisory personnel aware of priority calls and equipment status.
The position requires a high school diploma, basic proficiency with computers, and at least two years experience working with the public. Experience in emergency or security services is desirable. Certification in enhanced 9-1-1 systems through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and certification in CPR, first responder, police and fire dispatch, emergency medical dispatch, and suicide prevention is preferred.
Starting salary is $38,688 – $46,956 with a competitive benefits package. Position salary is $38,688 – $53,469. Job description available here.
