The town of Bourne is currently seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of Superintendent of Public Works. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, management, supervision, direction and coordination of all functions and activities of the Department of Public Works (DPW). The Superintendent plans, organizes, manages and controls all operations of DPW including; construction, repair and maintenance of highway/streets and sidewalks, storm drains, parks, recreation and tree maintenance, public sewer and wastewater treatment plant operations, rubbish and recycling, town-wide fleet maintenance, snow removal and the repair and maintenance of town buildings.

The Superintendent oversees a department of 37 employees and an annual budget in excess of $3.8M.  The Superintendent is also responsible for the development, management and execution for capital improvement plans, and improvements to roadways, storm water, and facilities. MCPPO Certification is preferred as well as being highly proficient in all aspects of public procurement and project management.

A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or closely related field with seven to ten years of progressively responsible in public works and at least five years of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. This is a non-union managerial position exempted under MGL Chapter 150E and is FLSA Exempt.  The compensation range is $110-$120k commensurate with education, training and experience.
