The town of Boxford seeks a full-time Superintendent of Public Works/Town Engineer. Boxford has a population of 8,500, 96.5 miles of roads in an area of roughly 24 square miles. This department head position is responsible for all administration, planning, operations and personnel of the eight person Department of Public Works. Minimum qualifications include 10 years progressively responsible management experience in public works or equivalent combination of education and experience, BS in civil or related engineering – master’s degree or Professional Engineer (PE) designation preferred, comprehensive technical knowledge of public works materials, methods and techniques; knowledge of municipal procurement, public construction laws and practices, and federal, state and local laws governing streets, environment and public construction. Required skills include preparation and administration of department operating budget, capital planning, ability to review and interpret plans, project management, cost estimating, supervision of employees and contractors, strong verbal, computer and written communication skills, and ability to be a strong leader in collaborative work environment. This position is eligible for full benefits, salary range is from $91,000 to $121,000 dependent upon experience; the compensation package includes a town-issued vehicle.
