The town of Brookline is accepting applications for a Planner in the Economic Development & Long-Term Planning Division of the Department of Planning and Community Development. Brookline seeks an entrepreneurial planner to lead a series of district planning projects – from designing an inclusive public process through implementation. Supports other Division objectives, including town-wide sustainability initiatives, and reporting responsibilities. The ideal candidate will delight in problem solving, be obsessed with authentic community engagement, be curious about real estate development, be known for editing prowess, and have some Chinese or Spanish language skills. Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or related field plus a minimum three years of relevant experience or equivalent combination is required; master’s degree with five years’ experience preferred. Other qualifications include the ability to be resourceful and results-oriented; excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work professionally, collaboratively and respectfully with a range of community partners; technical skills in real estate development, business assistance, long-term planning, sustainability, and/or urban planning; ability to read and interpret site plans; MS Office skills plus Arc Map products. A valid driver’s license and evening meeting attendance is required. Starting annualized salary of $68,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package.
