Job Description

Brookline seeks an entrepreneurial, collaborative planner to support the community’s economic vitality and long-term planning goals. This role manages a wide range of projects that strengthen commercial districts, assist local businesses, and guide strategic planning initiatives.

Responsibilities include:
• Developing programs that enhance commercial area vibrancy and support business growth.
• Assisting business owners, developers, and community organizations with licensing and permitting processes.
• Leading district planning and long-term planning efforts aligned with Town-wide objectives.
• Conducting research, preparing reports, and managing public-facing communications and outreach.
• Supporting advisory boards and committees through meeting preparation and follow-up.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or related field; master’s preferred. Three years’ experience in economic development, long-term planning, community engagement, real estate development, or business advisory services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver’s license and evening meeting availability required. Technical skills in real estate development, business assistance, site plan review, MS Office, and ArcMap expected. Chinese or Spanish language skills desirable.

Starting Salary Range: $79,894–$84,236 plus excellent benefits
